Vaporization is a modern way of the safest absorption of active substances derived from various herbs. It is now an excellent alternative to smoking and is chosen both by young lovers of herbal smoking and by older, experienced smokers, who, however, follow the fashion and want to try something new. Although we now associate vaporization only with electronic devices of small size and weight, their origins actually go back many centuries, and this activity is actually as old as smoking. Now, however, vaporizers are handy devices that have little to do with the pioneering ones. Learn the history of vaporization and see how knowledge about vaping has changed from year to year.

What is vaporization and why was it created?

Vaporization is the process of heating herbs to almost their ignition temperature in the range from about 160 to even 220 degrees Celsius, which is done with a portable or stationary vaporizer. The main difference between smoking and vaporizing is the heating effect. Water vapor in the form of vapor is rich in active ingredients and contains no substances considered by doctors to betoxic and carcinogenic. Tar in the smoke builds up in the lungs, reducing the body's ability to absorb oxygen from the air and contributing to the development of certain diseases, including cancer. That is why cigarette smoking is one of the most common causes of the development of cancer of the lungs, larynx and mouth.

A handful of stories about vaporization

The beginnings of vaporization date back to the 5th century BC, when the vapor created by heating herbs was a way to enjoy feasting in steam baths. However, it is difficult to associate this process with vaporization known to us today, i.e. inhaling the vapor in a controlled manner by the user of a given device. The beginnings of this type of vaporization can be traced back to around the 500th year, when the Hookah, a prototype of the shisha we know today, became popular in Afghanistan, i.e. a device that has the most in common with traditional vaporization.

Contemporary vaporization -learn about its origins

Throughout the period from the creation of the shisha prototype until 1993, this device enjoyed great popularity and was irreplaceable. The year 1993, however, was the beginning of a change of this trend into a completely new one. Then Eagle Bill, a person interested in discovering the medical effects of marijuana, was informed by a Californian grower about an interesting method of inhaling active substances. For heatingdried, they used a heat gun placed directly under a large glass vessel. The effect interested Bill, who created the initial design of the vaporizer that he presented to the public in the same year at the Amsterdam Cannabis Cup.

Firstthe next electrically powered device was the BC Vaporizer - a Canadian brand product that uses conduction technology. The metal plate was heated by an electronic system, therefore this self-sufficient device did not require heating it by other means, e.g. a lighter or a flame. Then things took a different turn. The production and design of new vaporizers was undertaken by other companies, which, seeing the popularity of this solution, wanted to further improve them with their own proprietary solutions. In 2000, the Storz & Bickel brand introduced the world to the latest generation of vaporizers - the Volcano stationary model, whichy is still sold today.

Does vaporization have disadvantages?

Vaporization is recognized by the medical community as a relatively safe method of inhaling active substances derived from herbs, but it is not without its drawbacks. Many people consider the price of the device to be the biggest disadvantage of this solution. The barrier to entry is set quite high, because a vaporizer that you can recommend without batting an eye costs a minimum of several hundred zlotys, which is unacceptable for many smokers.

Another disadvantage mentioned by enthusiasts of traditional herb smoking is the lack of characteristic smoke and burning smell accompanying the combustion process. However, this is only a matter of taste. The undeniable fact is that it is during vaporization that we get the greatest amount of aromas. Even smokers are surprised that the herbs they love have a completely different taste than the one they have been used to smoking for many years. However, not everyone is satisfied with the purity of the vapor.
